There are 3 main types of toilets and 4 types of basins. You’ve got wall hung pans which do what they say, hanging from the wall not touching the floor (easy to clean under).

Back to the wall pans have the cistern hidden as do the wall hung (behind a stud wall) but they sit on the floor and finally there are closed couple toilets with the water contained on the back of the pan. The more popular toilets for commercial use would be wall hung and back to the wall.

Basins can be wall hung, semi recessed (hangs over the edge of the work top), counter top (set into the work top) and sit on basin (mounted on top of work top).
